reflections on the hood of a porsche

Framing photographs that are reflective really forces me to be creative. I don't want the reflection to primarily be me. It takes a little ingenuity and geometry to hide myself and make something more aesthetic. Case in point, my head was 3 inches from the hood of this Carerra in order to catch the blue skies and trees on Pennsylvania Avenue in the black painted mirror.

pennsylvania ave. neon

I don't know how these photos would turn out if I printed them, but I love taking shots of neon. I especially like ones like this that have glass in front and reflect something interesting beyond the intense colors of the neon. I guess the print of this photo looks pretty good on my wall. Others, we'll have to see.

sitting on the dock of the potomac

Last time I brought my tripod on a photo shooting mission to Old Town and the waterfront, it poured on us. This time, my battery ran low with what would've been the best shot of the night. King Street Blues were jamming in front of an alley near the Torpedo Factory. I need to make sure my battery is fully charged when I go out from now on. Here's a long exposure, using a wall as a makeshift tripod.

leaving the shadows

Restlessness compelled us to walk around Old Town last weekend. It's been that kind of month that it's taken me this long to upload them to my computer, let alone post-process the shots.

eight years later

The president will be speaking here with Secretary Gates and others in remembrance of the eighth anniversary of that dark day. Dana Falkenberg would be eleven now.

smörgåsbord of delicious

Falls Church Farmers Market is open Saturdays pretty much year-round. The choices were too numerous. My money was too limited. The flavors were amazing. Dinner Saturday night was grilled skirt steak (grass-fed and organic, of course), roasted corn-on-the-cob, fried green tomatoes, and garlic home fries.
