When my uncle sold the family tavern in 1999, the Moose became the watering hole of choice for many of the displaced patrons. Lately, I haven't set foot in a pub, bar, or speakeasy in town. There's reasons, sure, but it'd still be nice to do something after my grandma goes to bed at sunset.

My class took a field trip to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History late last month to review for the upcoming Standards of Learning assessments. The kids had a blast running around the museum, checking off boxes on their scavenger hunts. I had a blast capturing their fun from afar with my Nikon.

The skies threatened to soak us for the whole day, but we were treated to dry rocks, strong winds, and cool temps for an abbreviated trip to Cooper's Rock State Forest near Morgantown, West Virginia. Heal up, my friend, and we will make the return trip.

happy mum's day
