I've taken to photographing the faces of statues lately. I'm constantly amazed that sculptors can capture every emotion so perfectly. Here, Mother Theresa comforts a child as a poor man kneels pleading for help with his eyes.

Light across the floor leads me to the pews in the grand expanse of the church. It is an awe-inspiring building.

I have two shots of prayer votives from inside the church. By a slim margin, this was deemed the better of the two. Ma lit a few of them, in prayers of thanks I'm sure.

The front facade towers above those who enter, covered with intricate carvings.

As suggested by a friend, we ventured out to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Catholic University's campus in Washington, D.C. It was a beautiful morning to be out and about with my camera.
