more depth?

I think this one has a bit more depth than yesterday's shot. Same sunset, different point of view. Thoughts?

Nice Sky! The foreground is interesting, but a bit too dark. Maybe that is the effect you wanted, which is cool, but I would have liked to see a little more detail in the foreground. Of course, that is easier said than done!

I tried messing with the on-board flash to get it right. (It just occurred to me that I've always got it dialed down because I hate when it washes things out) I think I needed to dial up the flash power to hit the sweet spot between keeping the sky and not washing out the foreground.

...or I just need to get the Speedlight for my Nikon.

Another thing you can try instead of a flash is to use a flashlight to "paint" the foreground. With a 30-second exposure like you used, you can start the shot and sweep the flashlight back and forth around the foreground.
