Located across the street from Eastern Market, Capitol Hill Books has narrow aisles between floor-to-ceiling used books that can overwhelm even the most ardent bibliophile. We wandered around the claustrophobic stacks and managed to find three that piqued our interest: War & Peace by Leo Tolstoy, Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel, & A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. A nice consolation prize for the day.

florida house
Reflected in the windows of Florida House on Capitol Hill is the back of the Supreme Court. Touted as the only state embassy in the nation's capital, I wish I'd known they give out free orange juice to Floridians, though I wonder how I'd prove it without my Florida driver's license. I may have acclimated to the winter too well to be believable as a Sunshine State native.

pennsylvania ave. neon
I don't know how these photos would turn out if I printed them, but I love taking shots of neon. I especially like ones like this that have glass in front and reflect something interesting beyond the intense colors of the neon. I guess the print of this photo looks pretty good on my wall. Others, we'll have to see.
