step back in time


The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal was the way for freight to be shipped into the District in the 19th Century from West Virginia & Maryland. Mules tugged the boats from lock to lock, necessitating the men of the family to control the water levels. (ISO 100, f/5.6, 1/125s)
