snowdrop

The snow had all melted by the time I made it to the cathedral. Too bad; it would've been lovely.

We fought our way to the Tidal Basin after eating some Ben's Chili Bowl. Too many tourists in both places, so we bailed and headed to the Russia House in Dupont Circle. Must return for a proper meal that doesn't revolve around vodka.

Surprisingly, I didn't have to crop this entirely too much. These new filters are going to be a lot of fun when I figure out the quirks! For starters, methinks f/1.8 is too wide of an aperture to get good detail in the whole frame. Next round, I'm stopping it down a few and see what happens.

emerging from the depths of winter

Daffodils are everywhere. Tulips are beginning to send up stalks from recently-thawed soil. Even humble little buttercups and hated dandelions are peeking out.

tulips, four lips, six lips, a dollar...

Yeah, I was like every other tourist in town this weekend snapping tulips. I was the only one on my belly not using a macro setting on my point-and-shoot.
