twilit tulip


We fought our way to the Tidal Basin after eating some Ben's Chili Bowl. Too many tourists in both places, so we bailed and headed to the Russia House in Dupont Circle. Must return for a proper meal that doesn't revolve around vodka.

an egyptian obelisk


Yes, that's right. The Washington Monument's design was influenced in part by the ancient Egyptians. Bet you didn't learn that from your third grade teacher! At 555 feet, it stands as the tallest structure in Washington D.C. From this perspective, it looks somewhat smaller.

saturated landmark, part deux


Two weeks ago, I went to Screen on the Green on the National Mall. The weather was threatening off in the distance. Strange looking clouds enveloped the Washington Monument. In trying to catch some lightning, I got this shot, played with the saturation, and this came out. Too much digital noise to make a great large print, but on a small scale, what do you think?
