lobstermen

I planned on getting up at sunrise on our last day to get some shots of the lobstermen taking their boats out. Turns out sunrise is somewhere in the neighborhood of 5AM. My walk started at 7:30 instead, far later than I wanted, but still much earlier than the rest of the tourists.

misty mountain morning

We woke up in the morning to frost covering the tent and the field we'd camped in. A hot breakfast cooked over the fire soon warmed us up, as did the sun as soon as it broke this ridgeline.

reflected in the lens

Last weekend, I headed off to Coopers Rock State Forest again in West Virginia. While waiting for the campsite to get moving, I took the Nikon out. My eye caught a reflection yet again.

shadows across the floor

Sometimes shadows across the floor just catch my eye. This isn't the first time on my belly to get a shot.

old post office pavilion

I happened by the Old Post Office Pavilion on my wanderings last week. It's a gorgeous building that offers amazing views of the National Mall & Capitol Hill on its three hundred sixty degree perch. If you're nearby, I highly recommend taking the half-hour or so detour.

early morning sunlight

Goofing off with my camera, quietly in the morning. It rekindled my desire to take some photos of interesting bathrooms, starting with the retro-cool men's room at the Corcoran Gallery. Is that strange?

welcome to tampa

It's been a few months since I've been to Florida. Laying on my stomach with a camera isn't what I used to do by the pool's edge. I forgot my board shorts anyhow.

rock me, mama, like a wagon wheel

Rock me, mama, any way you feel. Hey, mama, rock me...

down the hill we go

The path was steep. The climbs were, too.

nutella, the breakfast of champions

Beautiful lighting filtering through the trees. A climber's breakfast; how very French of you, J.C.!

reborn beauty

Out of the oscillation of our lives' relative polarities evolves our balance. Thus, out of death springs life anew.

the main hall

Union Station is a grand hall with gorgeous high ceilings. It's quite photogenic; no wonder I had so much fun snapping shots.

the real colors

The sun was just beginning to creep out from behind the clouds. Didn't touch the color on this one, just tweaked the exposure. It just looks like it's sepia-toned.

the district waking up

Apparently, someone roaming a transportation hub with an SLR rouses more suspicions than it used to. I got questioned by three security officers after taking this picture. I left soon thereafter and saw a large number of K-9 units parked outside. Something was up.
